1x Peening Attachment

How To Use

Cutting the Chain

  1. Place the tool under the chain with its guide between the inner link plates (do not use the stiffness release guide).
  2. Turn the handle clockwise while pressing with your thumb to keep the chain in the guide.
  3. Continue turning until the needle contacts the center of the connecting pin.
  4. Turn the handle counterclockwise to reverse the needle at the outer link plate.
  5. Remove the tool carefully, ensuring the chain remains intact.
  6. If the extracted pin remains, remove it and clear any burrs from the needle.

Connecting the Chain (Reinforced Connecting Pins)

  1. Insert a reinforced connecting pin into the chain and assemble it temporarily.
  2. Turn the handle counterclockwise to create a gap between the chain and the needle.
  3. Position the tool under the chain so the needle aligns with the reinforced pin (avoid the stiffness release guide).
  4. Turn the handle clockwise to press the needle tip into the center of the pin’s end.
  5. Turn the handle to press the pin while keeping the chain secure in the guide.
  6. Reverse the handle counterclockwise once the pin is fully inserted and remove the tool.
  7. Verify the chain is properly connected.
  8. Break off the guide tip of the reinforced pin by fitting it into the tool’s cavity and wrenching it off.

Connecting the Chain (Reusing Existing Pins)

  1. Turn the handle counterclockwise to create a gap between the chain and the needle.
  2. Temporarily assemble the chain and align the tool’s needle with the existing connecting pin.
  3. Turn the handle clockwise to press the needle tip into the center of the pin.
  4. Press the connecting pin carefully, ensuring the chain stays in the guide.
  5. Reverse the handle counterclockwise to secure the pin, then remove the tool.
  6. Confirm that the chain is properly connected.

Connecting the Chain (Campagnolo 12-Speed)

  1. Follow steps 1–8 of the reinforced pin method to remove the connecting pin.
  2. Attach the peening attachment from the tool’s grip onto the tool.
  3. Turn the handle counterclockwise to create a gap between the chain and the needle.
  4. Temporarily assemble the chain and align the needle with the reinforced pin (hold the tool in the opposite direction).
  5. Turn the handle clockwise to apply the needle tip to the pin’s center.
  6. Continue turning to peen the cut portion of the reinforced pin.
  7. Reverse the handle counterclockwise to secure the pin in place.
  8. Remove the tool and return the peening attachment to its grip.

Releasing Stiffness

  1. Place the tool under the stiff area of the chain where link plates are pressed together.
  2. Turn the handle clockwise until the needle contacts the connecting pin.
  3. Continue turning an extra 1/4 to 1/2 turn for optimal release.
  4. Reverse the handle counterclockwise and remove the tool.
  5. Check the chain’s movement and adjust further if needed.

How to Replace the Pin

  1. Remove the replacement pin from the tool’s grip.
  2. Turn the handle counterclockwise to eject the damaged pin.
  3. Turn one half of the handle counterclockwise while holding the other; unscrew the handle parts using a vise and pliers.
  4. Attach the new pin and secure it with screw lock agent; apply grease on the thread.
  5. Reassemble the handle and verify proper function.
