What exactly is bike fit?
Bike Fit is a series of adjustments both to the bike, as well as the riding posture to achieve the most comfortable, and efficient riding position possible. A good bike fit can transform your riding experience.
An average cyclist makes 5400 pedal revolutions per hour. Now imagine having saddle height, reach or cleat setup off by even a few millimeters. Those few millimeters can be the difference between cycling being fun and painful, between getting fitter and getting injured.
A bike fit is ideal for any rider, and often, we suggest a bike fit for any of the following reasons:
- Make your ride comfortable: A lot of people ignore this particular aspect while riding their bike. If your ride is mildly uncomfortable today, it could be indicative of a much bigger problem that might arise later.
- Avoid injury: Cycling is a repetitive activity – this could lead to injury over a period of time, which when ignored gets severely aggravated. Some people stop riding altogether because the pain of the injury is unbearable. A good bike fit helps you avoid injuries.
- Improve efficiency: Minor tweaks to the fit can help you become faster, and more efficient. While professional riders need this the most, all riders can benefit from improving their efficiency to meet their own personal goals better.
Now, the pertinent question is not "Why bike fit?" but "Why us?”
Our Bike Fit Process
We refrain from generalizing bike fits. Every rider is unique and that is why the same fit may never work for two riders. This is true even if they are of same age & height and ride similar bikes. Unfortunately, that is exactly the opposite of what a machine-based bike fit does. A machine or a fit system is supposed to provide data, which a bike fitter analyses and take the next steps based on their knowledge and experience.
This is where we come in. We do not perform run of the mill fit but are here to provide solutions to your problems.
Our Bike Fitter – Krishnendu Basu
Krish has been doing bike fit for close to 8 years now. Motivated by his own interest, initially, he spent a lot of time learning by himself. In 2017, at a bike show in Europe, he got a chance to spend an entire day with a renowned bike fitter. This was his first international exposure to bike fit where he learned that his techniques were quite similar to the ones employed internationally. In October 2017, he got formally trained and received a Level 1 Certification. He followed this up with another training program and received an Advanced Certification in April 2018.
During both these training programs, he got the chance to learn from one of the best bike fitters in the world. Krish relies on his eyes & experience to perform a bike fit. While the data gives him a direction, his experience drives the bike fit process. Riders trust his eyes & intuition for the skill.
Certifications:
